Evening Hours Now Available!
Regular office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday. Select evening hours are also available for your convenience. Appointments can be scheduled by calling our office (393-0166 or 393-9337). Well-child visits may be scheduled with our nurse practitioners during the lunch hour as well as on select Saturdays.
Please call the office (before your child's appointment) if you wish to have another child examined as well. This way we can make available enough time for each child, have the necessary chart, and see all of our patients in a timely manner.
If you do need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call as soon as possible (a minimum of 2 hours in advance, but preferably 24 hours).. Calling early allows us to serve all our patients who need to be seen.
ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or have written consent giving us permission to examine and treat the child.
Please call our office if you need to reach the doctor on call. We ask you help with limiting after-hours calls to only urgent medical concerns that cannot wait until the next regular office day. Please be advised that the doctor may be attending other children in the Emergency Department, Birth Center, or on the pediatric floor at the hospital. During these times, there may be some delay in returning your call. Your patience is appreciated.
If your child has a LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY, call 911 immediately.
If you have a medical emergency call 911
Our office has trained medical staff available to discuss any concern you may have about your child. After conducting a thorough telephone interview regarding your child's symptoms, advice will be offered or an appointment scheduled with a doctor or nurse practitioner. If it is necessary to give a note to the doctor regarding your concern, we will make every effort to return your call the same day. Your patience while waiting for this return call is appreciated.
Requests for prescription refills may be left on voicemail 24 hours a day. Requests left before noon will be answered the same day if your doctor is in the office. When calling for a refill, be sure to have the medication name, strength, and refill number with you. We require three business days to refill prescriptions such as Concerta, Adderall, Ritalin, etc. Medication that requires a paper prescription MUST BE PICKED UP IN OUR OFFICE and cannot be called in to a pharmacy.
We participate with many insurance companies. We ask that you present your insurance card and PHOTO ID at each visit so that we have up-to-date insurance information. If your insurance company is one that we participate with, we will file the necessary paperwork for you. All co-payments or deductibles are due and payable on the date of service.
Many insurances change coverage benefits each year. Did you know what they covered last year might NOT be covered this year for your family? More than ever it is VERY IMPORTANT that you understand what your insurance company will and won't pay for this year! It is your responsibility to know and understand your particular coverage.
How can you understand/know WHAT is covered for your child in 2011? We ask that you call the member benefit number (on the back of the insurance card) and ask:
1) What is my PLAN YEAR? ( Example: is it January to December, April to April, etc.)
2) What is my CO-PAY? Which type of visits do I have to pay a CO-PAY? ( sick visits, well visits, etc.)
3) What is my DEDUCTIBLE? Is this DEDUCTIBLE per child or per family?
4) Does my insurance cover MEDICATION REVIEWS? (i.e. ADHD, ADD, Birth Control, Asthma)
5) Do I have a DOLLAR AMOUNT MAXIMUM that the insurance pays each plan year? (Your insurance might pay for only a certain amount each year). Anything over that amount will be your responsibility to pay.
Other questions to ask about DOLLAR MAXIMUM AMOUNTS are:
a) How MUCH is the maximum allowed?
b) Is the maximum PER CHILD or PER FAMILY?
c) Are WELL EXAMS included in the maximum amount?
d) Are IMMUNIZATIONS included in the maximum amount?
e) Does my insurance pay for ANY PART of vaccine cost?
Please call our billing department with this information so we can work together to minimize charges billed to you personally. Thank you for your help!
If we do not participate with your particular insurance, payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and Discover). We are happy to provide you with an itemized receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company.
You will be asked for this information at each visit. If your insurance company does not pay ANY PART of the cost of vaccines, we have a program available in which you may receive the vaccine at no cost (for simply an administration fee). Please ask us for details when you are in the office.
We have billing specialists that will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding charges, payments, or insurance matters.
Many insurance companies require that patients call the doctor's office BEFORE making an appointment with a specialist or another doctor. All expenses incurred by self-referral (without prior authorization from your doctor here) will be your financial responsibility. We cannot authorize visits AFTER your child sees another doctor.
