Dr. Dan DeCook is a graduate of Malumghat Christian High School (Bangladesh) and Calvin College. He attended the University of Michigan Medical School and completed a general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. He is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After spending 5 years in the Air Force, he joined LSA in 1997 and practices the full spectrum of general surgery with special interests in breast surgery.
Dr. DeCook and his wife, Cecilia (a Holland area Family Practice physician), have three children. They are active in their local church and enjoy family activities such as camping and traveling. Dr. DeCook grew up in Bangladesh where his family served in medical missions.
Dr. Houskamp is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School and Calvin College. After graduating from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University, he proceeded to complete his residency at the Blodgett and St. Mary’s hospitals in Grand Rapids, MI. He is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He joined LSA in 2000 and has since been practicing the full spectrum of general surgery with special interests in advanced laparoscopic surgery and endocrine surgery.
Dr. Houskamp and his wife, Amy, have two children. He plays golf and tennis, and he also enjoys reading. His family is active in their local church and he values spending time with his family.
Dr. VanWylen is a graduate of Holland High School and Hope College. He graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. After completing a residency in general surgery at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI, he trained in general thoracic surgery in Bristol and Birmingham England. He is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His practice focuses on general thoracic surgery, and the diagnosis and surgical treatment of gastro-esophagael reflux (GERD). He also practices the full spectrum of general surgery.
Dr. VanWylen and his wife, Kathy, have five children. They are active in their local church where Steve teaches high school Sunday school. He founded LSA in 1988.
